If you use Debian 5 and "new" Dell, HP and IBM server you will most probably run into NIC driver issues.
Debian does not distribute Broadcom driver (as part of their open source policy).
During the installation Debian will not recognize the network card and ask if you want to load the driver from a removable storage device (USB Thumb-Drive).
Download the driver here and copy on your USB thumb-drive.
Done!

We deployed a nice and so far perfect working fax solution. I would like to share the architecture overview and main components involved.
Architecture - Overview:

- PRI Lines (E1/T1 with DID)
- FoneBridge from www.red-fone.com
- Asterisk-Server (with Freepbx)
- Hylafax-Server (with iaxmodem and Avantfax)
How does i work / flows:
On the Asterisk-Server:
- Create "normal" IAX extensions on Asterisk
- Map Inbound-Route (DID) to IAX extension
On the Hylafax-Server:
- configure one virtual iaxmodem per fax extension
(this iaxmodem registers like any other end-device to Asterisk)
- configure Hylafax (add a new faxmodem to it)
- configure a new user-account in AvantFax (GUI and Add-on for Hylafax)
What do you get out of this solution:
- Reliable faxing solution with Asterisk
- Fax will be distributed to individual e-mail addresses
- Users can send faxes from a website
- Users get confirmation / status information about outbound faxes via e-mail
(sent or not sent faxes)
- Easy administration (FreePBX and Avantfax)
- Fax archiving
- and much more... :-)
Here some print-screens:

Let us know if you like to get installation support for the solution above... ;-)
